THIS SUMMER, TRAVEL AGENTS WERE INVITED to enter their websites in a contest run by TravelAgentCentral.com for consideration as the industry's best. Amoung other things, agents and agencies were asked to use the following criteria: Does your site have the most original content? Does it look cool? Is it easy to navigate? Is it a "one-stop" shop with all the links and references one would need? Here's the Travel Agent editorial team's top five picks: ...
... Leaders in Travel (www.leadersintravel.com) is a consumer site that has in-depth information on a variety of travels-from business to pet. "Our goal was to create a user-friendly experience, incorporating and maintaining newsworthy editorial content along with a wealth of resource information and travel offerings of our preferred supplier partner hotels, resorts, cruise lines and tour operators," says Gary Stevens, vice president, leisure sales and marketing. "We chose not to load our home page with lots of 'clutter', often seen on other sites, but rather [use] a clean, streamlined approach. The text, whether descriptive or informative, is always kept to a readable level-never too long; and we believe, from the feedback we receive, the site is a reflection of our very professional, warm and friendly approach."
