San Ysidro RanchSan Ysidro Ranch's Privileged Pets

One of California's oldest and longtime premiere luxury destinations, it may not be commonly known that one of the main attractions for San Ysidro Ranch as a lavish hideaway is its historical tradition in welcoming the family pet. Stemming back as far as former owner Alvin Weingand's famed family of dachshunds in the mid 1930s, pets have often been frequent guests at the Ranch. At a rate of $100 per pet per stay, one's four-legged friends are welcome to enjoy the beauty and natural wonders of the lush gardens and 17 miles of hiking trails that the Ranch provides.

From the moment guests arrive on property with their pet, a heartwarming welcome is felt, as at registration, your pet may sign in alongside with you in the Privileged Pets registration book, and receive a treat from the cookie jar on the front counter. San Ysidro's organic treats are homemade - created by the Ranch's pastry chef. Upon entering your free-standing cottage accommodation, your beloved pet will discover his San Ysidro Ranch bedding, as well as his own custom amenity that includes food and water dishes with water, doggy treats and a Bow Wow Beanies toy. Amenities also offered include a San Ysidro Ranch in-room pet massage: booked by the half hour, the treatment helps with blood circulation, aches and pains that your dog may endure after a long day of running and playing in the gardens.

Las Ventanas al Paraiso

Las Ventanas al Paraiso is not only one of our top-notch favorite - and certainly one of the most fabulous - resorts we recommend to discerning clients, but popular among the super-pampered pooch set too. Welcoming dogs and cats under 40 lbs., every pet who has it all will feel right at home at Las Ventanas al Paraiso. Rosewood Hotels & Resorts' all-suite resort in Los Cabos provides special menus and massages to pamper furry friends who are vacationing in the lap of luxury. A portable "Pet Cabana" - possibly the only one of its kind, as it was designed especially for the resort, is available for guests to use whether in their own suite, or at the pool or beach so their pet can enjoy the outdoors in shady comfort.

A new "Feline Delights" menu for the well-fed cat pleases even the most finicky palate with selections that include "The Claw Cleaner" (albacore tuna, chopped egg and sour cream), "Kitty Captain's Plate" (scrambled eggs and poached salmon), or "Tomcat's Favorite" (a selection of seafood). Dogs have their own "Canine Delights" menu, featuring everything from "The Rin Tin Tin" (shredded braised beef and steamed rice), to "Doggie Delights" (a selection of doggy chewies, rawhides and jerky). For pets who require a special diet or who simply crave a particular food, the chef will prepare made-to-order dishes. All pet cuisine is served on appropriate petware: metallic bowls with faux gem stones, bone-shaped placemats for dogs and kitty-design placemats for cats.

Pet pampering even includes special treatments offered by the world-class Spa at Las Ventanas. Cats and dogs can enjoy a stress-reducing neck massage -- a treatment that's made to order for pet jetlag. The resort staff will also walk pets, either along the fine-sand beach or in the flowering desert countryside, at the times each day that the guest specifies. Pet menu items are served from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The resort accommodates pets for $50 per stay (not per night), per pet.
